The Italian Job - Dolomiti Lucane

An end of season training camp in southern Italy. At six thirty most evenings, the mass of mountains known as the Dolomiti Lucane, or Basilicata’s version of the Dolomites, turn from blue to pink - it’s a spectacular sight. To make the most of this fascinating region we start our rides from our base in Matera exploring the hidden delights of the many national parks, before passing hidden coves and gold sand beaches. You'll be intoxicated by the rich colours of the landscape, olive groves, fruit orchards, vineyards and ruby-red fields, all intensified by the wonderful light of the Adriatic.

Your accommodation is as varied as the landscape, with each place specially chosen for its unique charm and character. Matera is a Unesco world heritage site, a stunning collection of cliffside cave dwellings with ornate carved stone frontages.

Our prime hotel accommodation is a boutique hotel where Philippe Starck bathtubs stand proudly in bare limestone caves, the sparseness of the setting uniquely romantic, artistic and beautiful.

With a choice of either boutique hotels or charming rural self-catering houses, and flights to Bari (BA, Easyjet, Ryanair) or Brindisi (Easyjet, Ryanair) we can cater for most budgets whilst still providing a first class riding and training experience.
